Compare your point clouds and 3D models.
The comparison of your models and your point clouds can be a powerful tool that will make you save time and limit errors. On a daily basis, the coherence between the digital model and the building “as built” is questionable. The interests of comparing the two are numerous.
Anticipate your errors
The work of AEC professionals is meant to be precise. That’s why, on a daily basis, they must have access to a real representation of the environment. Once the reality is captured, teams can control the “as-built” representation of their projects. From the beginning to the end of the project, a quality assurance and quality control process is necessary to detect, anticipate and correct errors between the model and reality. Once the comparison is made, corrective actions can be taken on the 3D model, or directly on the field.
The new functionality of ATIS.cloud offers you the possibility to produce a comparative analysis between the point clouds and the digital model. Also, you can create a complete analysis that highlights the problems related to the dimensional differences. Problem areas and out-of-tolerance areas will be highlighted. You can then take corrective action. This type of feature speeds up your inspection processes and saves you time.
From your digital model and point cloud ATIS.cloud enables you to automatically detect the gaps and delivers a colored point cloud locating the gaps in the digital model.

- From the viewer, you can visualize your point clouds, then you can import your 3D model in the format compatible with ATIS.cloud (PLY, FBX (2012 or newer), OBJ, STEP (AP203, 214, 242), IFC, DXF, IGES, JT (v8.0-v10.x), STL, VRML (v1 / 1995, v2 / 1997), 3DS , Collada, X3D) . From then on, you decide on a margin of error, ATIS.cloud create a cloud of colored points. The parts in red are the parts outside of your margin of error. The other color parts are those which respect the tolerance threshold. To be even more precise, you can choose intermediate margins that will be of different colors. This way, any modeling errors will be automatically detected.
- The colored point cloud and the annotations that you have made allow you to highlight the elements that contain errors in an exhaustive and precise manner. In order to make this analysis as precise as possible, you can export your annotations to an Excel file highlighting each of the problems encountered during the comparison, including all the detections. In addition to the precision that it offers, this analysis is essential to not take into account errors due to approximations of the site, a bad interpretation of the results or the uncertainties of the site. In a plain word, the creation of an Excel file makes it possible to concentrate all the information and to be able to interpret them and in fine to carry out corrective actions.
Compare your 3D models to your point clouds automatically thanks to ATIS.cloud is a time saver for the building professionals.
